Here are some easy steps to making your Hot Garage Sale a success!
1) Gather items for sale.- Try to rid of everything you haven’t used in over a year. Hey, if you haven’t missed it in a year – chances are you really don’t need it but it’s great for making some cash.

2) Inventory each item – Make sure to make a list to know what you have and what you’re going to sale it for.

3) Attach a clearly written price label to each item – put the starting price you would wish the item would sale for. Give your friends and family a list of what’s the cheapest you would sale your items for. That way there’s no trouble later on why your brother sold your surround sound for $50.

4) Check with your city or homeowner’s association and obtain a permit if one is required. IF there’s a cost attached see if any of your neighbors would want to participate in order to share the cost of the permit.

5)Set a date and place for your sale – Get some advertising in the local community paper or post it on community boards some grocery stores have or you could post on www.hotgaragesale.com – that’s an idea!

***Tidy up your yard and/or garage! Think of your CLEAN yard as your store to sell your goods – you don’t like to go to a dirty store either does anyone else.***

6 )Make signs a few days before the sale –ask your neighbors if you can put signs on their yard to bring more people to the HOT Garage Sale – ask them again if they want to be a part of it. The more the merrier and the more people working to make this garage sale a success!! Make sure these signs are in the right places – think like garage sale hunter – should it go on your neighbor yard, below the stop sign, near an intersection, telephone pole – anywhere.

7) Get plenty of change and petty cash – make sure one or two people handle this and that it’s in a safe place.

Set up the morning of the sale- have you ever heard the early bird catches the worm? Get up and get going early – get the cash for all those items you’ve been not been using all this time.
